District 26 Background: District 26 is located in northeast Lincoln. Senator George Dungan is seeking his second term.

Dungan is a Lincoln native, attorney, and public defender who earned his law degree from American University and began his legal career representing children in juvenile court. He has served on the Lincoln Bar Association Board of Trustees, the Lincoln Pedestrian Bicycle Advisory Committee, and as a longtime mentor with the Teammates program, earning induction into the Teammates Hall of Fame in 2017. Dungan lives in northeast Lincoln with his wife, Britta Tollefsrud, and their child. In the Legislature, he has focused on judicial reform, strengthening public schools, expanding access to healthcare, and improving public safety.

Howard is a University of Nebraska–Lincoln custodian, former software industry manager, and small business owner who is running for the Nebraska Legislature as a Republican. After working his way through college and building a career in the private sector, Howard launched his own business in 2019, an experience he says gave him a practical understanding of budgeting and fiscal responsibility. He entered the race to provide voters with an alternative choice and is campaigning on state budget oversight, accountability within the university system, legalization of recreational marijuana, and ensuring voter-approved ballot initiatives are properly implemented. Howard also emphasizes community engagement and believes strong neighborhoods play a vital role in supporting residents during times of need.
