OMAHA—Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer’s office reported receiving a suspicious powder Tuesday, marking the third similar incident in the state within a week. Sen. Pete Ricketts’ office and the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office also reported suspicious packages. The incidents come amid a nationwide increase in threats against public officials, with researchers reporting 145 federal arrests related to such threats this year, already surpassing last year’s total. The FBI is investigating all three incidents, although authorities have not confirmed whether they are connected.
