LINCOLN— The Good Government Lincoln group has submitted petition signatures seeking to place three proposed Lincoln City Charter amendments on the November ballot. If the Lancaster County Election Commission verifies enough valid signatures, voters will decide whether to expand voting rights in certain city elections to residents living within Lincoln's three-mile extraterritorial zoning jurisdiction, impose a limit of two four-year terms for City Council members, and move city elections to coincide with statewide elections beginning in 2028.

The group, led by former State Sen. Tony Fulton, says the proposals are intended to increase voter participation, strengthen residents' voice in city government, and prevent career politicians. The petitions require about 5,000 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot. If certified, the Lincoln City Council will formally place the measures before voters in the November election.
