LINCOLN—A former Nebraska legislative staff member is suing the State of Nebraska and the Legislature, alleging they failed to properly address sexual harassment and retaliation involving former state Sen. Dan McKeon. The woman claims McKeon harassed and intimidated her, while lawmakers delayed their investigation and failed to prevent further retaliation. She is seeking financial damages and legal protections. McKeon resigned in January 2026 ahead of a potential expulsion vote, and a related misdemeanor charge was dismissed in August.
