NEBRASKA LAWMAKERS EXAMINE GAPS IN EDUCATION ACCESS, FUNDING FOR YOUTH PROGRAMS

LINCOLN— The Nebraska Legislature’s Education Committee reviewed interim studies Wednesday addressing education access, youth development, and early childhood programs. Lawmakers heard concerns about limited resources for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and funding shortages for mentoring and after-school programs. Sen. Danielle Conrad expressed concerns over potential special education budget cuts and plans to introduce legislation in January. The committee also examined youth sports and Early Head Start programs.
