FORMER SPEAKERS SHARE HOW THEY KEPT THE LEGISLATURE RUNNING

Mike Flood, Galen Hadley, and Greg Adams all gathered together in downtown Crete Thursday night for a public forum to discuss what it was like being speaker of the legislature. They discussed stories and Nebraska’s tradition of a non-partisan legislature over beers at The Brew House. All three concurred with the notion that, as speaker, their job was to balance the diverse political perspectives of their colleagues in an effort to accomplish the people’s business. In reference to his duties as speaker Flood said “The longer you’re there, the less it is about party, the less it is about your politics, and now you’re driving this bus with 48 other mini-governors that all have a plan on what the state should do.” This talk was the latest in a monthly series hosted by Senator Laura Ebke called Political Brew.
